Melonwoods was founded in 2006 when furniture was imported for a Gooderson Group Hotel in South Africa. The need in the market for good quality, well priced, wooden furniture was evident and Melonwoods was born.

We initially only imported furniture from Indonesia. We love this country and its people. Each family manufactures different furniture items, and skills are passed down from one generation to the next.
Craftsmanship is outstanding and, being a country that is often overlooked in terms of import, furniture made for Melonwoods is truly unique.

Melonwoods also wanted to support our local economy and ensure we are building into our own people in terms of skills and income generation, so we started manufacturing furniture locally.
This resulted in shorter lead times and the ability to further diversify our furniture range.
We also support small businesses by sourcing décor locally.
